![]() ![]() There's old stuff here by Moriarty, who had published in Raw, and I loved the sketchbook work from Dutch comics artist, Marc Smeets, introduced by a short essay self-deprecatingly titled "An Incomplete Appreciation" by Chris Ware great to see. Whose work do I like in this one? C.F.,Vanessa Davis, Tom Gauld (always). It's a picture of a time, though, and in some ways some of this work would soon be forgotten were it not for collections like this. I also just read #5, which I liked a little better, but I still did like quite a bit of this, actually, as much as I dislike collections, which are inevitably uneven. ![]() ![]() But it's nice to see them in a kind of historical context, I guess. 2006? And this is the first time I am reading this volume, and by now I have read more expanded versions of work by the included artists. Sammy Harkham's collection, sort of like Raw, a place to go for the avant garde comics of that year… and this was. ![]()
